It's hard to take a census like the 1840 Lafayette County, MS version and make sense of all the information since it doesn't have the "luxury" of given names in later years' work. But two members of the Society took the raw information from old microfilm covering Lafayette county and Yalobusha counties to produce this volume along with an index to the 1840 and 1850 census. It can shorten the research time of anyone trying to figure out what was going on here in the first twenty years of county history.
