No where else will you find a concise historical account of banking in Oxford, MS. Will Lewis Sr., the author, was very familiar with all the banks and their histories, some good and some not-so-good. Modern day banking shows little resemblence to our banks in previous centuries. But, you'll recognize some of the characters who show up other places in Lafayette County history. Leading citizens usually make up bank boards of directors especially in small towns. This is a good story with lots of "goings on" about town reflected in banking practices.
